My name is Brandon Schmitz. I’m a writer, theologian, and advocate for social justice.
I’m looking for a chance to put my writing and philosophizing skills to work professionally.
I’m currently available for employment interviews.
I’m based in Kansas City, Missouri.
All my work experience has been acquired locally. This is detailed on my resume.
Specialized skills include:
team management
tech savvy (esp. Microsoft Office)
creative writing: poetry, nonfiction, fiction
public speaking and speech writing
I’m graduating with honors from Park University with a Bachelors’ Degree in English and a minor in Philosophy. Between courses, I have worked with NGOs providing services for the homeless and under-housed, advocated for social justice, and formally served in lay ministry.
Wyandotte UMC
I served as youth pastor/community outreach coordinator with this congregation for three years. While there, I composed and delivered multiple sermons and a series of devotionals.
Park University publications
Independent creative projects
While taking courses at Park University, I was featured in two of their publications, The Scribe creative writing journal and The Navigator academic journal.
Either as part of creative writing courses, or personal projects, I have developed several of my creative works into a format ready for publication and distribution.
Sigma Tau Delta English Honors’ Society
In 2023 I joined Sigma Tau Delta, became Vice President of the Park University chapter, and was featured twice in their annual academic convention; once for creative writing and once for academic analysis.
More of my writings are archived on a wordpress blog. These are in various levels of revision, but provide an expanded view of myself as a writer.
